Out there

Extremophiles fascinate me. We tend to think of life on our own, limited fragile terms. We assume repiration must use oxygen. We assume an endoskeleton, exoskeleton or (our own)interior skeleton connected together with cartilage and tissue. We assume cells lead to our our limited definition of life. We assume so much. Then we learn about viruses. We learn about extremeophiles respirating in carbon monoxide. We learn about a transparent-skulled fish, the result of deep-sea evolution. Discovery is open to me, open to all of us. "Sue" was found by Sue Hendrixson, someone just like me, looking for treasure. This is why I love science so much. There is such a sense of wonderment for all of us.
